TASTING NOTES:
A selection of the best barrels results in the wine called Clew. This is a big, powerful wine, particularly the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Clew, which comes from Coombsville. One hundred-seventy cases were made of this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in 100% French oak, this is no wimpy wine at 15.5% alcohol. It is super-concentrated, with a stunning nose of graphite, licorice and forest floor followed by off-the-charts richness, a skyscraper-like texture, and massive blueberry and blackberry fruit in addition to some loamy soil undertones. This stunner is still incredibly youthful and primary but promises to evolve and be drinkable in 5-7 years and last three decades or more.
