Pirene is grown in the Costers del Segre region, at high altitude, ripens in mid-October, and comes from the San Miguel de Tremp vineyard. Soft and almost Burgundian like in the nose with rose hips, iris and cherry aromas. The wine is sweet on the attack with silky structure and medium weight which builds in the mouth to a crescendo of spice, red fruit, softness and elegance. There is minerality, ripe summer fruit and an abiding freshness on the finish. Beautiful high-altitude wine from a rediscovered grape variety which is so appetizing. Serve slightly chilled.
