TASTING NOTES:
My strong favorite of the three wines presented in this mini vertical is the Maurizio Alongi 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Vigna Barbischio. This vintage is certified organic and 5,800 bottles were released. This blend of 94% Sangiovese, 4% Malvasia Nera and 2% Canaiolo shows a dark, velvety appearance with mild concentration that coats the mouth quite nicely. The bouquet delivers many sides with dark fruit, olive tapenade, earth and dry biscuit. Vigna Barbischio ages in tonneaux for one year.

The 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Vigna Barbischio is a gorgeous wine from Maurizio Alongi. Bright and translucent, with terrific depth, the 2019 has much to recommend it. Dried herbs, rose petal, mint, sage and lavender add nuance to this rugged Chianti Classico from hillside vineyards in Gaiole.
